DOWNTOWN MASTERPLAN 2020:
Gillespie Park is within the city of Sarasota’s Downtown Master Plan 2020 boundaries.  The plan was authored by Andres Duany of the world renowned architecture and planning firm DPZ from Miami.  Mr. Duany built upon the John Nolen city of Sarasota masterplan of 1924.  Subsequently, the city also adopted the “Smart Code”,  the implementing zoning code,  also by DPZ,  providing for  first class urban design and architecture, including single family homes, accessory dwelling units, townhouses and live/work building types.  The Tatum is an example of what this new masterplan and zoning code envisions.
